McGuinty Government Investing In New Home For The Youth Centre (Posted:2011-08-26)
Ontario is improving access to community health care for families in Ajax and Pickering by investing in The Youth Centre (The Barbara Black Centre for Youth Resources) for its new Pickering satellite location. This Community Health Centre will deliver services specializing in youth health issues and will service youth ages 13 to 29 years, providing medical, counseling, young parent support and outreach services, as well as health and wellness programming. Once the Pickering satellite is operational, Pickering residents will be able to access care in their community allowing the main site in Ajax to have more capacity to care for additional clients. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2012, and the project is expected to be operational in 2013. The investment into The Youth Centre is part of the McGuinty government’s Building Together long-term infrastructure plan. Through Building Together, the government is investing in modern and efficient hospitals and healthcare settings that support the needs of our aging and diversifying population. Ontario will continue to make significant investments in public infrastructure over the next decade to improve the quality of life for families.
