We are going to learn about four developmental tasks of adolescence.
During the Separation / Individuation developmental task, a teen learns how to be an autonomous person who is capable of making decisions and running his/her own life.
During the developmental task of Identity Development, teens experiment with new roles, both at home and with peers.
During the Sexuality/Intimacy developmental task, teens begin to come to terms with the changes to their body. They tend to seek the experience of loving and being loved by a partner.
During the Peer Relationships (Belonging to a Peer Group) developmental task, teens spend an increasing amount of time with their peers and less time with their family.
