Identity Development

As teens progress through adolescent development, they begin to experiment with new identity roles, both at home and with their peers. Peer groups are often used as an outlet in exploring their identities.

Along with this exploration comes an increase in risk taking. They may engage in magical thinking, expressed through a feeling of invincibility. This can also be illustrated through the immortality myth, as many teens experience the belief that bad things will never happen to them.
