Parenting Styles Refresher

1.

Your son has lost the key to your house for the second time in three months. You:

 

A.

buy him another key and hope for the best.

 

B.

ask him to identify a better way to keep track of his key. Once he has done so, ask him to get another key cut and pay for this himself.

tell him he is obviously too young to possess a key and refuse to give him another key until he is more mature.

Your 16 year-old daughter's first serious boyfriend was charged, along with two of his friends, with shoplifting. You:

forbid your daughter from having any future contact with him.

believe that her boyfriend is likely innocent and behave as if nothing is any different.

Ask your daughter how she views her boyfriend after hearing about his arrest and try to seek any ambivalent feelings; if she still plans to stay in that relationship, help her identify how she can avoid finding herself in trouble with him.
